Settling in for Summer

May was a very busy month for Mike and I. We both traveled to Colorado and then 2 weeks later I headed to Texas to visit my family and Mike headed to Bellingham to participate in the Annual Ski to Sea relay race. Ski to see is a 90-mile relay race from the top of Mt. Baker to Bellihgam Bay. The race includes 7 legs: Cross-Country Skiing (4 miles), Downhill Skiing (4 miles), Running (9 miles), Road Biking (36 miles), Canoing (18 miles), Mountain Biking (14 miles) and Sea Kayaking (5 miles). Mike did the mountain biking portion of the relay. His team was Belly Timber and they did very well. Here is a team picture with supporter.

With May over, Mike and I are looking forward to summer. For those of you that don't know, summer is my busiest time of the year, since I work in new student summer orientation for Oregon State, so the next time I have any time off, while be when our little girl comes. Hard to believe.....this week she has proven to be quiet active, really kicking and rolling around inside. This summer will be interesting with me being in my third trimester, outside and on my feet for most days and while it does not get that too hot here, it can get up in the 90s (which is hot for us) and when you don't have central air conditioning that can get pretty warm. At my most recent doctor visit I gained 4 lbs, which is huge...since this is the first I have gained weight. Now I should be gaining about 1 pound a week, we'll see. Dairy Queen just brought back the Brownie Batter blizzard so that may not be a problem. Yummy!
By the way this is me at 22.5 weeks.

Big News

This past weekend, we headed to Denver to see Maggie Mayers graduate from University of Northern Colorado. We had a really good time and really enjoyed getting to see everyone. Next time we are back in Denver we will have a baby in tow.

Also, this week we found out WHAT we are having. It looks as though we are going to be having a baby GIRL. I knew if from the beginning and we (especially me) is very excited. Below is a picture at 19 weeks (almost half way through) and the first baby portrait (I can't figure out how to turn it-- will have to mess with it later).

While in Denver we had a baby shower that we given to us by the Mayers' women and it was very sweet and really got me excited about this little one. We received many cute gifts, including some outfits, a blanket, diaper bag for dag, a rocking chair and a stroller. Last night we went and picked up the stroller. Now we just need to wait a few more months and we will have a baby to put in it :)

A Productive Weekend

Walked the Paws Off
Mike went on a mountain bike ride one afternoon and took Animas with him. He literally "walked her paws off." She came home with blisters on her feet. With a little bag balm (a vasline type treatment for animals) and some baby socks- an early baby gift, she is back to normal. She was pretty pitiful for the first couple of days.

The boat is back.....
Last weekend Mike picked up our boat, Intentional Diversion, from Washington. She has returned to us and we are very excited to have it back.

Award-winning
Last weekend my mom came to town and we attended a 4 day scrapbook retreat. It was refreshing and great to see my mom. At the end we all voted on the "best page of the weekend" and mine whole. I was very proud of this page, it was my favorite of the weekend.

Pregnancy Update
So lately, I have definately been feeling better and an appeptite has returned. It only took 18 weeks, but I think I the "better" stage that everyone has been telling me is coming. I also swear that I have felt the little one move. It has been really light, but I am finally starting to feel like I am not alone in my body. We find out on May 14th if we will be having a little boy or girl. This picture is me at 17 weeks.
